Fredrik A. Kayser for Vatne Lenestolfabrikk
Norway, circa 1965
One of the finest examples of Norwegian Mid-Century Modern design, these lounge chairs were designed by Fredrik A. Kayser (1924–1968) for Vatne Lenestolfabrikk in the mid-1960s.
Gracefully sculpted Brazilian rosewood frames, sweeping bentwood arms, and floating loose cushions showcase the refined craftsmanship that made Norwegian modern furniture internationally admired. The gently reclined slatted backs and web-supported seats provide exceptional comfort while emphasizing Kayser's elegant, understated design philosophy.
Produced in relatively limited numbers compared to Danish furniture of the same period, Kayser's work has become increasingly sought after by collectors for its combination of sculptural beauty, superb construction, and everyday usability.
